Cutting the ostomy wafer to fit the end of the esophagus. The ostomy wafer fits best on an esophagostomy that has been delivered onto the chest. In this position, the patient can often perform placement alone in front of a mirror. Diversion onto the neck makes ostomy management more difficult and uncomfortable for the patient, but sometimes, because of length issues, is inevitable
