Laparoscopic prostatectomy

Peter W. Cooke

For lap prostatectomy, put a Clutton’s sound in and get your nurse to push down to lengthen the urethra when working on the anterior apex. This makes more space for the dorsal vein complex (DVC) stitch and prevents the suture transfixing the urethra. It can be used to lift the prostate on bladder neck division/seminal vesicle dissection. It puts the urethra on stretch for easier dissection/urethral division at that point.
