37: Problems with weaning



Information: Starting to wean



  • Introduce daily tastes when hungry and not too tired, sitting with good head control and showing interest in food
  • Salt should not be added to infant foods due to immature renal system
  • Introduce lumps gradually
  • Baby-led weaning is where solid foods are given to hold, rather than the baby being spoon fed. This may improve longer-term food intake regulation
  • A combination of spoon feeding and baby-led weaning is recommended
