Information: Milk banks

• Aim to increase amount of available breast milk primarily for premature infants whose mothers cannot provide their own milk
  
• Milk is accepted from mothers with babies under 6 months old
  
• Exclusion criteria for donors: smoking, regular alcohol intake >1–2 units once or twice a week; positive HBV, HCV, HIV 1 or 2, HTLV I or II or syphilis. Current/recent drug users and those at increased risk of CJD are also excluded
