Abstract

EndoWrist® Instrumentation provides seven degrees of freedom for accomplishing precise tasks during robotic prostatectomy procedures with the da Vinci® Surgical System. The most frequently used EndoWrist® Instruments during Robotic-Assisted Radical Prostatectomy are listed below, along with several alternative instruments.

EndoWrist® Instrumentation provides seven degrees of freedom for accomplishing precise tasks during robotic prostatectomy procedures with the da Vinci ® Surgical System. The most frequently used EndoWrist® Instruments during Robotic-Assisted Radical Prostatectomy are listed below, along with several alternative instruments.

Frequently Used Instruments (Figs. 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, and 3.4):

Large Needle Driver (Fig. 3.1): for needle and suture manipulation. Many surgeons are using two needle drivers in both Robotic Instrument Arms. The use of only one needle driver and the needle manipulation with a dissector device (e.g. PK Dissecting Forceps or Maryland Bipolar Forceps) is not as comfortable but possible without real limitations in most situations.
